This is Halloween, This is Halloween...

Happy Halloween!!!

Last night I went to the gym after work and did 4 miles on the treadmill in intervals. Some intervals I went up to 7.5 mph and others only up to 6.0. But overall I kicked butt I think and felt like I achieved something this week. I already finished 3 days of working out this week, I just need to do one more day of it to reach my goal for the week.

Tonight I am going to a party that is being hosted by one of the film graduate students. It should be pretty fun with some pretty cool people. Afterwards we might even stop downtown and check out the cool costumes.

I think I need two more things for my costume. I might pick that up at lunch or after work. Probably after work though because supposedly this thrift store near my place has the stuff I need and I am not traveling out there for lunch. Too far.

I brought my lunch today but because it is Friday, payday and a holiday I might just go out to lunch if someone invites me. If not, I will just eat my lunch here and read a book. Either way I will be happy.

I am hoping at least a few kids come to my place tonight for treats, but I highly doubt it. Anytime I have ever had visitors it was when I lived in a house, not an apartment. We shall see the turn out though ;-)

What are your plans for Halloween? The weekend?

ps: I just purchased the tanita body fat scale thing on amazon. Has anyone else used this before?

Oh How I Missed the Suns

Wow today has FLOWN by. Okay not exactly FLOWN by, but I was definitely too busy for this. OOps.

So did anyone watch the Suns beat the Spurs last night? I DID. It was AWESOME.

All I did last night was hang out at home with Mike and watch the game. I made home made pizzas that weren't technically that terrible for me, but the scale thinks so.

I find it so strange that whenever I work out, the next day I always weigh more. Probably water retention or something. Not a big deal because I do not base my self worth on what the scale reads. But I do try to use it as motivation to eat better and workout harder. :-)

Tonight I am going to go to the gym and run 4 miles interval style. Not sure how many minutes run and how many minutes walk yet though. Maybe 5 minutes run 2 minutes walk? I think I like that one. Even though it does require calculation for me. Oh well. Maybe the treadmills do an interval thing though. I haven't looked at it. I know some other ones I used had it. HMMM. After wards I am supposed to do core workouts. LAME. I hate them. And right now I feel hungry so not sure it will work out. And note, i am pretty sure I feel hungry because I ate a bunch of apples and the acid tears at my stomach and makes me think I am hungry. And yes, I need to stop eating the apples. Too bad they are such an easy fruit to eat. Boo.

Next week is going to be a busy one. I think I am going to just workout at lunch and come back to work sweaty. Who cares. If I have to work for 14 hours or more, you will have to deal with my stench. hahahaha.

What I have Eaten So Far Today (at 6pm)
B: english muffin with egg whites, fake sausage patty, 2% american cheese single, coffee w/ light chocolate soy milk
S: nutri grain bar
L: pita pizza pockets (home made)
S: apples and some gross cheezitz that I stopped eating after realizing how gross they were
D: plan to eat leftovers

Geesh

So today at work we are going to an indian buffet. A great thing for someone who is trying to reduce the amount of food they eat right? geesh. Also it is someone's bday today and there will be some sort of dessert.

Good thing I worked out last night. I decided to do the elliptical because my hip was sore from the run the night before. Turned out it was the perfect thing to do. Once I was done my hip felt perfectly fine. I think it stretched it out in all the right places. Woo hoo! Now I know what to do next time my hip is sore. After the cardio I did 15 minutes of lower body weights.

Tonight I planend for it to be a rest day because the Suns play their first game tonight and I plan to watch it with Mike. I am so excited!!

I think I figured out my halloween costume. Mike is going to be kurt cobain and I am going to be courtney love. I bought some trashy clooking clothes for cheap and some trashy make up and fish nets. should work out nicely. haha.

What are you going as for halloween? do you have any fun plans??

Planned Food for the Day
B: choco waffles, coffe w/ light chocolate soymilk
S: nutri grain bar
L: indian food?
S: dessert for the birthday thing
D: home made pizza, made as low fat as possible ;-)

Get Warmer Please

Okay, I am NOT a fan of it being cold. It was FREEZING in my house this morning. We left the patio door open last night on accident (with the screen closed). The pups were laying between Mike and I when I woke up, which is a SURE sign that they must have been cold, which means it really WAS cold in the house. They usually sleep on the floor, or in some dark corner in my bedroom. This was weird.

I guess certain parts of Austin even got frost or ice or something. I am NOT a fan of that. The average temp this week is in the low 70s, which to some people is perfect, but to me it is FREEZING, especially with the nighttime temps in the lower 30s. For example, right now at work I am sitting right next to a very warm space heater. Normal people would be sweating but I am more than enjoying it.

Not only did I wake up to the place being freezing, but also my hip hurting. I guess when you run the fastest 2 miles you have ever run you might want to remember to stretch afterwards. Yes that is right, I ran extremely fast for 2 miles last night. For a good mile i was running around 6.5-7.5 mph on the treadmill. I didn't even know I was capable of staying on the treadmill at 7.5 mph. I never went below 6.0 during the entire run. Woo hoo. Afterwards I also did some weights, all upper body.

Also yesterday I went to sit outside for lunch yesterday but it was too cold for me to take it. I really aim to ALWAYS take the full hour lunch but I just could not bear it outside yesterday. I think today I am going to just go to Target on my lunch to get my Halloween costume and then eat my lunch at my desk.

Because I am almost limping today from not stretching yesterday I think I am going to just go on the elliptical instead of the treadmill. Do about 40 minutes of that and be done with cardio. Then do a lower body workout.

NBA Basketball starts tonight! Woo hoo! My team starts tomorrow (the suns!). I am really excited for it. I feel like I have waited forever for it to come back on! Tomorrow night I will be making a home made pizza with pancetta, onions, bell peppers and low fat mozzorella. yum.

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal, coffee w/ light chocolate soy milk
S: fage yogurt with fruit loops (got a free fun pack of cereal and need to eat it)
L: baked beans with apples and sausage and onions, etc
S: apples, carrots, goldfish
D: my tofu concoction I made last night w/ rice.

Idea for Plan: To Do List on iGoogle

On my iGoogle page I added a to-do list gadget with all my planned exercises on it and another one for my food. This actually forces me to get these done. I am usually a stickler to my lists, especially ones where I can check things off on it.

I think the lunch I packed is a little bigger then I should eat. I think I might just eat half of it and then take it home and eat the rest for dinner.

So, did I mention yet that I got to see Ben Folds on Saturday night? It was AWESOME. One of the best shows I have been to. I was there with a bunch of friends and an amazing band. Definitely a night to remember. We actually even got a double encore. Crazy right?

And on Friday night I went to the Alamo Drafthouse and watched a Master Pancake show for Friday the 13th (like Mystery Science Theater I am told). That was a LOT of fun.

Ender keeps getting sick and then getting better. He acts perfectly normaly, but his tummy is having problems and I can tell by physical proof if you know what I mean. Poor little guy. He has a lot of problems because he had parvo, so his tummy is super sensitive. Drives me batty sometimes. But overall I think he will be fine.

Planned Food for the Day
B: choco waffles, coffee w/ light chocolate soymilk
S: fage w/ coco pebbles
L: beans, rice, sausage veggie meal
S: apples, trail mix
D: perogies w/ rice and veggies

Planned Exercise for the Day
2 mile run, upper body weights

No More Excuses Plan

That's right. I have been at this too long with no real change. I have changed a lot over the last year and a half, but not as much as I should.

I had a talk with Mike today about things that have been stressing me out, and it comes down to not being able to find a balance. I don't know how people get so much done and still have fun. I think the best way for me to get started on doing things to reduce stress is to have a plan. A plan I actually stick to.

One thing I came up with today to help me get started on reducing stress is to commit to spending a good chunk of Sunday preparing for the rest of the week. I spent today focusing on this primarily.

I came up with several lunch/dinner ideas that both Mike and I like and felt like having this week. I decided to make them today and store them in tupperware in the fridge so that we would have more time to spend on getting other things done, or even relaxing. Together we probably made about 8-10 meals. Wow.

I also am doing laundry today and making sure I actually put the clothes away. This definitely reduces a lot of stress for me.

I am also going to work on not allowing things get into such a mess around the place. To do this, clean dishes more often and more efficiently, put clothes away, and just pick up as I deal with other things.

I need to work on a better plan for working out. I used to have a great schedule and worked out a lot consistently. Too bad I never lost more than 5lbs doing that. This was probably because my eating was counteracting the work. I am not too terrible of an eater, and like to believe I eat pretty healthy, but obviously I need to kick up the healthy eating up a notch and the volume of my meals down a notch.

I am going to create weekly plans and stick to them, otherwise I will never accomplish what I want to do. Here is my plan for the week:

The Plan for the Week:
M: Gym, run 2 miles, weights - upper body
T: Gym, run 3 miles, weights - lower body
W:
Th: Gym, run 4 miles (interval), - core
Fr: Rest
ST: Rest
SN: Run 3 miles

If you have any life planning suggestions, please let me know. I will write more on this tomorrow. I am going to focus on getting enough sleep as well so that I can function at work this week as well. ;-)

It's Getting Cold in Hur...

Wow it was COLD last night. I am not a big fan of cold of any kind. All I like about winter is wearing hoodies, but I am trying to NOT wear hoodies to work since it looks unprofessional. Not that I couldn't wear them, but I want to make it a point to look nicer while at work. Anyone have ideas, other than bulky sweaters that make me look huge?

Last night I ended up going to the gym. I ran for 2 mmiles in less than 20 minutes, i think it was 1830 or something. How cool is that??? A few weeks ago it took me about 30 minutes. Although the treadmill is lame because I am just running in place, it is cool for helping me increase my speed by reminding me how fast I am going. Towards the end I am like okay only .5 miles left, I just want it over with, and then increase the speed. I got up to 7.0 last night for about 3 minutes. That is impressive for me. I did end up walking the rest of the time though, so I did a full 30 minutes of cardio even though I sped up the running.

Did anyone watch private practice and see Addision on the treadmill, basically competing with the guy from wings? Btw that is the only way i can see him, I always forget his name on the show because duh, he is the wings guy. Well her speed went up to 12.0 or something. Not sure if it was real, okay it probably was entirely fake, but can you imagine running 12 miles per hour and talking like a normal person? Lordy. Of course she did fly off the treadmill eventually. How could she not have? How did the wings guy not? Lame. haha.

I am looking forward to running in the outdoors this weekend. I want to do it both Saturday and Sunday. Not sure if both will happen, but I hope it does.

Tonight I am going to see Friday the 13th at Alamo Drafthouse. They are doing a master pancake thing of it, which basically means (or so I have interpreted it to mean) is that they just make fun of the movie the whole time. Sounds like it will be quite entertaining.

Tomorrow is halloween shopping and Ben Folds. Woo hoo!!!

Just have to get through today. Hopefully it goes as fast as the rest of the week has!!

Can't Find a Balance

Wow this week has gone by so fast. I have been working extra hard, which has taken a toll on me, but has also lifted a weight off my shoulders. I guess it events out right?

I have been eating somewhat healthier this week (aside from yesterday's lunch) but have also not had time to work out. I will be back at it today and I think I can fit in at least 3 days of working out, which is my minimum goal. I like to get in at least 4 days, but 3 is alright under the circumstances.

The weather is much cooler now, so I can go for a run on Saturday and Sunday. That will be nice.

I don't have many plans this weekend, aside from finding my halloween costume. I think I am going to be Annie Hall. I was also thinking blossom though. I guess it depends n what I find at the thrift stores I go to on Saturday.

Just forgot, on Saturday night I am going to see Ben Folds! Woo hoo!! I am so excited. I have never seen him before and I hear he puts on a pretty great show.

Today I have a tasty salad. Salad (duh), mushrooms, snap peas, apples, bleu cheese and turkey. Mmmm. Should be good. It is pretty much what I had for dinner last night (plums instead of apples) and was good.

How are you all doing with your goals?

Planned Food for Today
B: choco waffles, apple slice, coffee with light chocolate soy milk
S: pumpkin kashi bar
L: salad
S: something to give me energy for a run today, perhaps a coffee at starbucks (I have a free coupon)
D: something simple, like mac n cheese

Planned Workout ThiS Week
Th: 2 mile run, weights
Fr: rest
Sat: 3 mile run
Sun: 4 mile run

Short Cut = Gain 10 lbs

Why is it already a new work week. Boo. Not that I have a problem with working, but I do have a problem with not being able to sleep until it is light outside.

On Friday I went to the Alamo Drafthouse (where you can order dinner and drinks while watching a movie) to watch Religulous with Mike and Teddy. I ordered a pizza and we all had a few drinks. Because this location is in the middle of downtown where there are a ton of bars and what not, we just went out after the movie. We went to a few bars and hung out and actually ended up dancing at one bar. hahah. The entirety of our dancing was thinking of old dances and dance moves from our childhood, ie the running man, the tootsi roll, the butterfly, the electric slide. It was hilarious.

On Saturday morning I had a terrible sinus headache. It had been lingering the past 2 weeks, but on Saturday it was AWFUL. At least it was on a day off from work right?

I had to get my hair cut on Saturday since I had an appt. I wanted to go short. I actually am not a big fan of the haircut right now. I wanted it to be edgier, but I kinda look like a traditional soccer mom plus it makes me look much "bigger" than I am. I swear it makes me look like I gained 10lbs or more. But I am not too upset. I think when I get it touched up in a month they can make it look edgier and now I will know that in order to have short hair again I need to be at least 20lbs thinner. Oh well. Life goes on and hair grows quicker than one thinks it does. ;-)

The rest of my Saturday I spent the day relaxing. Sunday was pretty much the same except I went to a friend's "jewelry party" even though I don't wear any. It was fun though, even though I did not buy anything.

I have a busy schedule this week and am going to have to plan to workout this weekend to make up for it.

Monday: ice cream with teddy for her first day at the new job, then finish about 200 pages in my book to be complete by tuesday night

Tuesday: book club

Wednesday: Kickball

Thursday: run 2 miles

Friday: run 3 miles

Saturday: rest

Sunday: run 4 miles.

I need to go, will write more tomorrow.

Sleeping In.... on Accident

Kickball was canceled last night because it was rainy all day and night pretty much.

I went to a local health food grocery store, Sunset Harvest, with the intentions of getting soup to eat for the rainy day. What I ended up doing was spending almost $40. I think its because I bought some thai peanut sauce and sesame oil (both $5) and a bunch of other random stuff. haha. Oops. I wasn't even hungry which is weird why I bought so much random stuff.

I wasn't even close to hungry until 830pm and it was just barely hungry so I ate a pita sandwich w/ hummus, turkey and colby cheese. Can you believe that, I didn't even end up eating the soup. I am ridiculous. hahah.

I went to bed early last night and ended up forgetting to bring my phone in the bedroom, aka my alarm clock. I ended up sleeping in until 642am, when I normally wake up at 615. This just meant no time for drinking coffee and eating oatmeal. I instead opted for frozen choco waffles (forgot what brand but just bought them).

Today the plan is to work all day, perhaps even late, and then go to the gym and do 2-4 miles running. I want to do 4 miles but I might be working too late to do have time to do them. We shall see how it works out. I wanted to come in early today but that ended up not happening since I slept in. Oh well.

Another Busy One

Today was a busy one again. Not sure when it will ever stop.

While I was in the middle of doing a million things, all due "right now" I got a charlie horse in my freaking neck. It was pretty ridiculous. It still is sorta sore.

So I have to do some bragging. Normally I do 2 miles in 30 minutes. Yesterday I did 2 miles in 20 minutes. 10 minutes off my time is ridiculous right? I was pushing hard though!

Then today I wanted to do 3 miles interval running. I did 2 minute walk, 3 minute run. I finished the 3 miles in 35 minutes, which is 11.66 per mile. I am cool with this time since I was walking for a lot of it. I went from walking 3.5 mph until 7.2mph at the end (according to the treadmill). It is ridiculous how much the treadmill pushes me to go faster. I love it.

Since last week I have been pretty good about only eating when I am hungry. It works well except that I have not been very hungry recently and its not like I can skip dinner or what not. If I am not hungry and it is time to eat I just eat something small. No biggie. No idea why I have not been that hungry but I am definitely not going to let it bother me like I do when I am over hungry all the time. heh.

My pup, Ender, is sick again. Mike took him to vet today and they gave him some meds and a shot and he should be fine soon. He acts normal, but I still feel bad. He is a trooper.

Tomorrow I have a kickball game. I hope we FINALLY win. We have not own once and all the guys get pretty annoyed. Oh well for them because I am having fun. haha.

I also am getting catered lunch tomorrow, which is going to be a veggie pad thai style bowl with lots of veggies. I also got edamame which I am pretty excited about. Yum.

So do any of you have any games you play with yourself while on the treadmill? I need new ones.

Things SHOULD be slowing down....

My life has been nuts in the last 2 weeks. I am hoping this week it slows down and I can get back to working out more and eating right.

I worked over 60 hours last week, and had family in town and finally got to unpack from my move. I think I actually took the last box to the trash on Saturday night. Woo hoo.

I have noticed I have not been as hungry recently, even during girl time, which is probably because my work outs have been super lame, or non existent.

I am trying to focus on not eating when I am not hungry. There have been several times in the last week where I turned down a brownie, ice cream and other goodies because I wasn't hungry. I think this is the best way of going about losing weight, or rather the healthiest way for both the mind and body.

Tonight I am going to go to the gym and do 2 miles and then weights. I think I am not stuck at the gym for weekday workouts and can only run outside on the weekends. Oh well. Until next spring right? ;-)

I am going to lunch today with some co-workers and it is at a bbq place. No idea what I will get, but hopefully I can keep it small. Good thing I am not even a big fan of BBQ. heh. I could eat some cornbread though. Yum.

Oh yeah my brother came into town with my 4 month old niece. She is soo freaking adorable. Awww. So cute. Too bad I won't get to see her for several months now. :-(

Plans for the Week
M: 2 mile run, weights
T: 3 mile interval run, weights
W: kickball
Th: 4 mile run
F: Nothing
ST: Nothing
SN: 5 mile run.

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal, coffee w/ chocolate soymilk
S: kashi granola bar
L: small sandwich or soemthing
S: pretzels w/ cheese, fruit
D: Fajita leftovers.

Busy Busy Busy

So this week is crazy. I got to work at 7am yesterday and left at 8pm. Tonight I will probably be here just as late. Not sure exactly, but might.

I really didn't do much yesterday other than work. I came home, watched a tv show and then went to bed. Pretty pathetic right? haha. It will only be like this about a week out of every qtr so I am not too bothered by it. :-)

If I get out of work early enough I am going to kickball practice. That will be a decent enough workout. Especially since I am still ridiculously sore from moving my friend.

So in regards to the move. My friend and I (both small women) moved her entire apartment up 3 flights of stairs. Somehow we even managed to get her mattress and frame up 3 flights of stairs with awkward angles without dying. No idea how it was done, but it was. After the move we went and watched Nick and Norah and the infinite playlist in order to recover from the move. It was an incredibly adorable movie.

On Sunday I went on a short trip to costco, went to lunch with Mike's friend whow as in from Houston and then helped Mike build me new bookshelf and clean up my room that my friend was staying in for 2 months. I never was able to see how big my room actually was because her stuff had been in there since I moved in. My room is HUGE though. I don't have enough stuff to put in it. Pretty funny. I have been sleeping in the room though the last 2 nights and it is MUCH cooler than Mike's room and my bed is very comfortable. :-) I missed my bed.

I need to come up with some ideas to decorate the room. I only have one thing ready to be put up right now. Maybe two. Not sure. Any ideas on where to find cheap retro style decor? I might head to the thrift store this weekend...

Okay I need to head out. Have a great day!

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal w/ peanut butter m&ms (bad I know) and vanilla soymilk, Coffee w/ chocolate soymilk
S: 90 calorie granola bar
L: veggie pattie on english muffin and some cilantro ranch
S: plum, pretzels and cheese
D: No idea, dependent on a lot of different things...

Planned Workout
up in the air based on what happens today

I Love Me Some Friday

Whew I am sore and TIRED. I worked out several times this week already AND got less than 6 hours of sleep several times this week. Not really sure how I am awake right now.

Last night after work I went to the gym. While changing in the locker room all these women were talking about their plan to get in shape and what not and I wanted to talk with them because I talk to so many people now in the blog world about it. But I got too shy and thought they might not appreciate my input because I was a lot younger, etc. Next time hopefully I will get the nerve up and talk to them when they are talking like that.

I ran 2 miles, MUCH FASTER than usual. I started at 5.0 because I was sore to begin with and wanted to start slow. After about 5 minutes I got a little less sore so I upped it. By the end I got up to 7.0. I like to increase it by .2 mph every few minutes. It was a lot of fun. After the run I did some upper body weights but didn't do as much as I had planned because I realized I am helping my friend move on Saturday and I wanted to be able to move her stuff up a flight of stairs without dropping it from exhaustion.

I am not sure I mentioned this but on Tuesday I ran 4 miles on the treadmill and I went MUCH faster than usual. Although I am not a fan of being a hamster (moreso the thought of it) I do think the treadmill encourages me to go faster. I did 4 miles in 48 minutes, which is pretty freaking fast for me.

I watched the debate last night, hoping it would be as funny as the katie couric interviews with Palin. I was dissapointed that she only made me laugh at her a few times. I thought it was a great debate though overall. I am glad I watched it and paid close attention.

So in Austin (as well as a few other cities) NBC is now gone from Time warner. I guess Time Warner was getting NBC for free and then charging the customers so some drama went on and now we just don't have it all. Super lame. I think we are switching to Direct Tv or something really soon. Does anyone here use it? Do you use their internet? We definitely need a plan because not having a major television network when you paid a butt load of money for cable is pretty freaking ridiculous.

So I am excited that I get to finally unpack my room, after 4 months of living in Austin. I will actually be able to sleep on my bed soon too. Wooo hoo. I am going to go on a major cleaning of the room and the whole house this Sunday. I am actually looking forward to it.

On Saturday I am helping Teddy move out, which should be a workout. heh. I also want to watch the Nick and Norah movie with Michael Cera, REALLY BADLY!!

Tonight I think I am just relaxing at home because tomorrow be a busy day and as I mentioned before I have not gotten sleep for awhile now and desperately need it.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal (w/ hemp protein powder, walnuts and vanilla soymilk), Coffee w/ light chocolate soy milk
S: granola bar
L: not sure if I am going out to lunch or not, if not I have a veggie wrap pizza thing (frozen) .
S: veggies, green apples, peanuts or something
D: tomato turkey meatball pasta/soup

Planned Workout
walk the dogs perhaps

Excited for Today

Okay this may sound weird or potentially offensive to some people (if they get easily offended), but I am really just asking this question so I can not be ignorant. My brother is coming into town with his wife and daughter who is less than 6 months old. I imagine we are going to go out to dinner. What kind of place can I choose? Do people who have babies under 6 months not go out to eat often for fear the baby will cry in the restuarant?

I am thinking I might pick this outdoor place with live music because then if the baby cries maybe no one will hear it? No idea. Maybe she doesn't even cry much. I have no idea.

I do not have baby, nor do I plan to have one, so I never really think about what happens when you have an infant in regards to social situations.

So onto other things. Last night the kickball game was fun, although we lost. We out for drinks afterwards which was fun. I really like hanging out with my co-workers, they are definitely a fun bunch to hang out with.

Today the plan is to go buy my new book for my book club during lunch (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) and go get a sandwich or something. After wrok I am planning on going to the gym to run for 2 miles and then do some weights (upper body since I am sore on my lower half from kickball hahah). Then onto the debates where I will dream I have a ton of friends who are available to play Palin Bingo while I watch the VP Presidential debates.

I am beyond excited that tomorrow is Friday, even if I have to help my friend move. As long as I don't have to wake up before 8 I am happy.

Are any of you watching the debates tonight? I think they will be hilarious.

Planned to Eat Today
B: Oatmeal w/ walnuts, coffee w/ chocolate soymilk
S: 90 calorie granola bar
L: sandwich
S: strawberries, veggies, some almonds
D: tomato meatball soup

Planned Workout
2 mile run, weights
