Physical Therapy = Painful + Useful

So, I wanted to write yesterday but I got too busy writing my "about me" page.

First let's review my physical therapy session on Tuesday. I have never been to one of these before and was nervous about it. I thought the PT guy would criticize everything about me, including my weight, how I walk wrong, etc. This guy did not. He analyzed how I stood, asked me lots of questions, and then got done to business. This guy does the Airrosti kind of physical therapy. All I know about that is, you get a really really intensely painful massage and then they place fun band aid looking things all along where they massaged to help increase blood circulation and supper the muscles. And yes, I get to wear them until my next appointment Friday.

This is what I looked like in them on Tuesday.

At first when he put them I thought, crap, now I have to wear jeans all week, do they even fit me? And then I thought, it is going to be 103 degrees this week, I am going to continue to wear dresses and everyone can deal with wondering what the heck is wrong with my legs. Issue resolved.

I also got to test out a foam roller, and learn neat exercises to help with my achiles tendons. Now I want a foam roller. I am scared to see if they are expensive. But I need it, the Doc said my muscles were extremely tense and what not and that I need to do that every time before I run and after until this goes away and then do it just after every time (after/before a run I mean). He suggests at least 2 more treatments to learn everything and get all the scar tissue out and whatever. I don't understand most of this, so I am going to follow the directions.

I had no idea the achilies tendon or whatever was causing the issue goes all the way up to right below the knee. Crazy!!

I am supposed to run between appointments (next one is Friday!). I didn't have time on Tuesday or Wednesday. Seriously, no time. Tonight I am going to do a 3 miler, and then Friday in the morning I am going to do an interval run. Me going to the gym in the morning is extremely unlikely usually, but I have no choice. I have run out of time.

Alright lets dive into the food arena.

Tuesday I started my day with some greek yogurt with some kashi 7 whole grain, almond vanilla granola and grapes.

For lunch I had leftover whole wheat pasta with my pomodoro sauce and some triscuit things.

For a snack I had 1/2 a bag of frozen veggies, but thawed, with an italian blend seasoning and some cayenne pepper of course.

For dinner I had another egg salad pita with some wheat thins. This is my quick go to meal when I am starving.

On Wednesday I had a piece of cinnamon toast with some pb and honey.

Lunch was catered lunch day at work. It was from CPK. I had some of that wedge salad, but like 1/4 of it, because it was covered in so much dressing. I wanted other salads but they all had chicken in them. Boo.

I had another snack of veggies. It was the other half of the bag with the same seasoning. Delicious.

After work I went to Whole Foods to meet up with Sarah and some other friends to celebrate her birthday. We did some wine and cheese pairings, twice on accident. Delicious!

Then we left and got some froyo. I had some tasty treats in mine. I might have gone overboard.

When I got home I had to help mike with some formatting issues he was having with Word, that was holding him up from turning his thesis in. We were up until 1am. Around 11pm I had an arnold thin with sunflower butter and coconut butter because I was getting grumpy with just a dinner of cheese and froyo.

I did not get much sleep, but I am determined to fit in my workout tonight. It will get me more energy anyway. SO I have to.

Have you ever had physical therapy?? Did it hurt?
