I had never walked out to the indoor pool at my gym. I walked up, saw 2 people in every lane, and saw one person waiting. I had no idea if they allowed 3 to a lane, and she was just waiting for something so I asked her what the proper etiquette was here. She said 2 to a lane. Makes the most sense. I talked to her for a bit, she seemed really nice. We even ended up in the same lane later on.
I told her how I liked that swimming forced you to be just in your own thoughts, since you can't really listen to music. Then she said she does, she has this fancy swimming mp3 player thing. Then I started to imagine how fun it would be to listen to music while swimming. But I think I have to actually get completely into it again to invest in that.
I ended up swimming 1000m (or is it yards, I forget, it has been THAT long). It took me about 35 minutes to do this. I stopped after each 50 and rested for about 30 seconds. Swimming is hard. I alternated between breast stroke and freestyle. I wonder when I can work myself up to doing a 200 without a break. hah.
Good news: Swimming did not hurt my achilies at all. I foam rolled after. Then iced. I have seen continual improvement since Monday. My physical therapist even told me today that I was free to go. Yaya!
Breakfast:
1/2 a bagel w/ strawberry cream cheese.

Lunch:
Marie Calendars Salad & Cornbread. (Catered lunch day)

Snack:
Granola bar, and Carrots

Dinner:
More Peanut Soup w/ a frozen mini burger I made awhile ago. Tasty.

Have you ever done swimming? Do you like it? What is your "style"?
TLC pumpkin pie spice is the best granola bar ever! I hate swimming, it's not because I'm bad at it, I'm actually pretty good. But I feel so uncoordinated in the water. I think I'm more of a land mammal.
ReplyDeleteI have started going to a gym and working with a trainer. Today was the first day. One day cardio/one day strength training.
ReplyDeleteWe lost our 16 year old son, Joshua, in Nov 2003 and since then I have put on 60+ pounds.
I'm struggeling with a broken toe (big toe) rare break. TRying to be careful. Maybe we can help each other out....

ReplyDeleteMaren,
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I think the breathing training you do in swimming, actually helped me become a better runner though.
Cindy,
I am so sorry to hear about your son. I in no way could ever understand the pain you must be in. My nephew passed away after his 3 day of life, and being there when that happened was hard enough. I wish you the best with your training. I just looked at your blog, and saw you wanted to do something to leave a legacy and I see you also are starting to get into fitness. I love your idea on your blog. I think another idea, to incorporate your fitness and your love for him could be to run a race for him perhaps. Or perhaps a swim. ;-)
I just added a follow me widget on the right side. You can follow me on there if you would like.
