December 14, 2011 - Whole Foods Get Together

Breakfast
I needed a basic breakfast so I ended up just eating some pretzel & chocolate goldfish.

Lunch
At work lunch was catered and it was pizza. I don't hate pizza, but this pizza has gotten me sick before so I decided to avoid it and go for a bagel. I wanted something else but I had no time at work to go for something else. It was a definite fail on my part. Oops.

Snack
Because I only ate a bagel with honey I ended up getting hungry later and had to have a snack.

Dinner
After work I met up with a few friends at whole foods. We all ended up getting a meal from the hot bar, and sharing a bottle of wine. I ended up getting some lentils, tofu, black beans and corn, some kale and cilantro tofu.

The meal was quite lovely. I hadn't seen my friends in awhile and having them all together was nice. One of my friends is moving soon, and we all wanted to get together before the holidays. We definitely need to do this more often.

December 13, 2011 - Carbs are nice

Breakfast
The stomach was not feeling great, and the only thing that sounded good was french toast with some bacon.

Lunch
For lunch I was decided I needed some mac n cheese in my life. With the stomach still iffy, all I wanted was carbs. Carbs are much nicer on my tummy.

Dinner
For dinner I wanted something light and refreshing so I had a nice smoothie in a bowl with some granola.

The rest of the night was spent watching television with michael.

December 12, 2011 - Erratic Eating

Breakfast
My stomach was still off so I avoided breakfast until far too late. Then my only options were a bagel.

Lunch
For lunch I had plans to meet up with an old co-worker. We met up at Phills, which is my favorite burger joint. I wasn't really in the mood for burgers though so I tried to not eat too much. It was still tasty but the stomach wasn't feeling great still.

Dinner
After eating a burger, and getting home late from work resulted in eating a basic bowl for cereal for dinner.

The rest of the night was spent getting some work done on the interwebs.

December 11, 2011 - Royer's Round Top Pie

Breakfast
The day of indulgence turned into the weekend of indulgence. Mike's parents took us out to one of their favorite brunch spots. It was an all you can eat place. Holy moly. I in no way finished all that was on this plate, but did indulge in a small chocolate sundae. Please note "breakfast" was probably at 1pm.

Dinner
After our huge breakfast, and a long road trip home, I wasn't very hungry. My stomach had been bothering me all week and got pretty bad during the weekend. I ended up just eating a piece of pb & j on toast.

Royer's Round Top Pie
Mike is in love with this place called Royer's Round Top Cafe, in Round Top, Texas. We had gone there once before to get a pie, and Mike had been craving it ever since. He craved it so bad he was all about driving 40 miles out of our way to get it. On the way back from Houston we called in hopes that they were open but they were closed, but said that they were catering some event so we could pick it up anyway. Mike was super excited! We ended up getting the Buttermilk Delight Pie which had a lot of coconut, chocolate, cream and more.

The pups were tuckered out after the drive to Houston and back in one weekend. Plus they played with other dogs. Emily looked pretty adorable with her paws like that.

December 10, 2011 - A Day of Indulgence

Breakfast
Mike and I got in late to Houston from Austin and were excited to see that Dean bought us donuts and kolaches for breakfast. I think this was the absolute perfect breakfast for how I was feeling.

Sadly we spent our morning/afternoon at a funeral for a family friend. It wasn't sad that we were there, it was sad that the event had to take place. It was a nice funeral and we were all glad we could be there for support.

Lunch at Cafe Adobe
After the funeral we went to Cafe Adobe for lunch. We were told we were getting italian food later that night so we tried not to spoil our appetite. Unfortunately we did. Oops. I had a cheese enchilada, double beans, and a flauta. I did not even come close to finishing this, but I was starving by the time we got there and ate a TON of chips. Oops.

Dinner
Because we ate so much at lunch, by the time dinner rolled around we weren't hungry. We ended up getting pizza and then watching a movie. We ended up watching Attack The Block while eating dinner. I do not recommend this movie. I realized early on this is a type of movie you make fun of all the way through to get any sort of satisfaction out of it. It didn't make it that much better though. haha. On the other hand the pizza was delicious.

December 9, 2011 - Surprise Noodle Soup

Breakfast
My stomach was still bothering me so I ended up eating a bagel for breakfast. For some reason their bread just makes my tummy more in control.

Lunch
I was short for time on Friday, so I ended up just picking up a sandwich and eating it at my desk. I got an avocado sandwich some San Francisco Bakery. It came with turkey but I took it off after a bite. Deli turkey is no good to me.

Dinner
After work Mike surprised me by making a wonderful dinner. It was a noodle soup bowl with some bok choi, radishes, garlic, onion, and chard topped with roast beef. It was very delicious.

Drive to Houston
After dinner, Mike and I drove to Houston. A family friend had passed away, and we were going there for the funeral.

December 8, 2011 - Project Nim

Breakfast
Breakfast was another day of some cereal.

Lunch
At lunch I had to do an errand and after it I picked up a burger. The night before was a little crazy so I felt like I needed to make up for it with this. It was delicious as always but wasn't very friendly with me afterwards.

Project Jim at Violet Crown
After work Mike and I met up at the Violet Crown Cinema to watch Project Nim. Mike got free tickets and had been wanting to watch this since we saw a trailer for it on my birthday in June.

We had to get there incredibly early in order to make sure we had a spot there. In the mean time I drank an iced latte. Very necessary.

I also ordered some tofu veggie spring rolls for dinner. I felt like a light dinner, and this was perfect.

The movie itself was also perfect. Although it was not always a sweet movie, it definitely made you think, and realize how crazy some people can be sometimes.

December 7, 2011 - Portobello & Chips

Morning Workout
I started the day off with a quick ab workout. I knew this day with be a day of indulgence so I wanted to try to burn a few calories before.

Breakfast
Started the day off with some cereal.

Company Holiday Party at the Salt Lick
At work this was the day for our company holiday party. It was set at the Salt Lick.

The table started with a spread of meat and some bread. I was planning to eat vegetarian though so I stuck to just the bread.

Until I saw the beans.

I had some beans. Most likely with some bacon in it, but bacon is always fine with me.

Prob about 20 minutes after the meat arrived we got our vegetarian meal. They had to special order it there because Salt Lick doesn't really make vegetarian food. I got some sort of alfredo lasagna and a salad. Everyone was jealous of my salad.

We also got some berry cobbler. Nom.

Dinner at Black Star Co Op
After our holiday party a few of us met up at Black Star Co Op for some dinner and some drinks. I got their portobello and chips meal. Its just like fish and chips but with mushrooms. It was absolutely amazing. I prob only ate about half of this, but everyone else made sure it did not go to waste.

December 6, 2011 - Monthly Meeting Breakfast

Early Morning Meeting Breakfast
At work we have company monthly meetings. During these they feed us breakfast. This time it was from Galaxy Cafe. I got some of the whole wheat french toast sticks, some strawberries and some protein. This kept me full straight up until 1pm.

Lunch at Subway
I had an errand to do at lunch time so I ended up picking up Subway on my way back. I wanted a roast beef sandwich but they ran out. I ended up just getting their veggie sandwich which was equally as good.

Personal Trainer
Had another round with my Golds Gym personal trainer. We focused on  on agility training. Dot drills, and, weights, jumps, etc. I was literally sweating everywhere before it was even over. I had to clean off my sweat from the mats it was so gross. But it was also awesome, so I guess i have that.

Chickpea Burger Dinner
For dinner I decided to make a chickpea burger. I grinded up some chickpeas, and some la dona salsa I made in a blender. Then I added some bread crumbs and egg to help it stick together. The meal was good, but every time I took a bite I kept thinking I was just eating a hummus burger. That makes sense because I pretty much just made a hummus burger, almost same ingredients. I had tried chickpea burgers before, and this was definitely not as good as the other one I tried. At least it was fun to make.

December 5, 2011 - A Favorite Easy Meal

Breakfast
Breakfast was just some puffin's peanut butter cereal.

Lunch
For lunch we decided to go to BJ's Brewery for lunch. We have tried going several times to the one near work but it is always too busy. We decided to leave at 1130, and this time we were sat immediately and were back in the office before the hour mark. I ordered the avocado egg rolls as my entree and it was delicious. I definitely did not finish all of them, but I enjoyed every bite of them.

Workout
After work I went to the gym for a quick elliptical warm up, and then a body jam class with Lindsay afterwards.

Dinner
I was pretty hungry as soon as I got home so I heated up some baked beans and added some sweet potatoes to it. This is one of my favorite easy meals.

December 4, 2011 - Sunday Morning Cinnamon Rolls

Sunday Morning Cinnamon Rolls
Although these were definitely not home made, these cinnamon rolls were perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast.

Lunch
For lunch I had leftover sweet potato tacos. These were just as good as the night before. I could eat this at least once a week and be happy.

Dinner
Mike cooked up a steak for dinner, and I worked on making some wild rice and some steamed  rainbow chard with grilled mushrooms. It was a delightful meal.

December 3, 2011 - Johnson's Backyard Garden CSA

First CSA Pick Up from Johnson's Backyard Garden
Mike and I woke up on Saturday morning and went to the farmer's market near our house to pick up our very first box from the Johnson's Backyard Garden.

The CSA allows you to sign up for it on a bi weekly basis, and will let you cancel anytime. At first they had it so when you sign up you had to pay for a 2 month trial up front. I am much happier now that they changed it to pay as you go.

Here is the box, closed.

Here it is open! Look how beautiful it is! I love the rainbow chard. This box included rainbow chard, radishes, sweet potatoes, spinach, scallions, carrots, turnips, kohlrabi, broccoli, bok choi and a half dozen carton of fresh eggs.

Farm Fresh Eggs & Pastry
Mike wanted a scone from the farmers market so we got an with pear and cinnamon. We split it and served it alongside an amazing farm fresh egg. I could definitely taste a difference. They tasted more earthy, but in a good way.

With breakfast I got to enjoy a cute little Ender sitting next to me.

Workout
After breakfast I went to the gym and got in an hour workout. Our soccer game was canceled from the rain, so I knew I had to make up what would have been a great workout with another one. I ended up focusing on improving speed with interval running. Walking was around 3.8 and running was between 7-8 on the treadmill. Dinner with shmucks was on again in the cardio cinema room at Golds. This was definitely an awesome workout.

Lunch
For lunch I had some leftover pizza from the drafthouse the night before. I served it alongside from steamed spinach. Spinach is so much better steamed than raw. Night and day difference for me.

Farmer's Market Sweet Potato Tostadas
Although this meal wasn't entirely made with farmer's market loot, it did have some of it in there. This meal was absolutely amazing. Mike and I both agreed we would pay someone to make this for us.

The sweet potato mix includes some sweet potatoes obviously, corn, cilantro, black beans, onions, garlic, and cumin. I topped it with some feta and some La Dona salsa that I tried to replicate. It was beyond delicious. I kind of wish I had it right now.
