This Week's Highlights

Monday
This past week has been a blur. It all started on Monday morning, when I woke up extra early in order to figure out whether I wanted to stick with my decision to keep the new computer I purchased online on Sunday night. My laptop pretty much died. Somehow the screen busted and was getting worse. Pretty soon I wasn't able to see 1/3 of my screen. Oops. I ended up ordering a dell ultrabook, but then ready some reviews and freaked out and thought that perhaps I should get a Mac instead because at least I know those computers are reliable. Please note I have never really liked Mac's, blame the right click and the apple button, and the fact that their excel is AWFUL, and I use excel a lot. I ended up deciding to keep the dell however, because I need the laptop for work on occasion  and not having a workable excel really makes that impossible.

Tuesday
On Tuesday I worked all day and then headed to a happy hour with some old co-workers. I hadn't seen them in awhile and wanted to spend time. We ended up meeting up at the domain and then going to a dive bar where we played a fun game with everyone in the bar. It was hilarious, and my friend won, which made it even more fun!

After the evening ended I went home and helped Michael move our old couches. Yes, we finally bought new couches and they were going to be delivered the next day. Michael and I tried to move our terrible old and heavy couches in the garage. Somehow during this event I ended up tripping and falling onto the couch You would think that the couch would be soft enough to make it okay, but it was most definitely not. After being silent in pain for awhile I looked up and Mike told me I had blood running down my face. Oops. Immediately after it got all puffy and awesome. Ugh. I ended up spending the rest of the night icing my face.

This is with lots of make up on

Wednesday
On Wednesday one of my good friends flew into town from Colorado. After work all of my friends met up to see her at a friends house. We hung out late into the evening and caught up. My face was still swollen, and it hurt when I laughed, but I sucked it up and am glad I did.

Thursday
After work on Thursday I met up a few friends at Black Star Co Op. I was exhausted at this point and ended up needing coffee to stay awake. But it was all worth it because I rarely see my friend from out of town.

Friday
I woke up incredibly exhausted and like I was getting a cold. All of my friends and co-workers either had a cold, allergies or the flu so I figured it must be my turn. I took some meds and sucked it up because I had a busy day ahead of me. After work I met up with some friends downtown to watch Mike Bribiglia, a great comedian. We had a great time and the show was hilarious. After that we went to another bar on east 6th street where we stayed out until about 130am. We had such a huge group of friends, with such great convo, I almost forgot I was feeling sick and exhausted.

Saturday
We had plans to go to Thirsty Planet, a local brewery, for  a tour but none of us actually wanted to day drink, especially because I was throwing a party later that night that they were all going to. We ended up instead going to the greenbelt for a hike with a few people and several pups. After that Michael and I prepped for the party by getting some snacks and cleaning the house. Eventually a party started at my house, and we all had a great time. Games were had, birthday cakes were made, and a fire pit even showed up in my backyard.

Favorite Meals of the Week

Technically this was from Sunday, but I ate it throughout the week and this was the best picture of it. I made a ham and bean soup with lots of veggies. It ended up tasting pretty fantastic. Mike and I finished it off by the end of the week.

This was a randomly thrown together meal that came out tasting pretty lovely. Some broccoli, grilled turkey, udon noodles with a peanut sauce.

On the way to go to a party one night, I picked up some food at the Whole Foods hot bar. Some tasty chana masalsa and some steamed kale.

On Saturday morning Mike made possibly the best french toast he has ever made. That is saying something because he makes some great french toast very often. Soo delicious, especially with the berries on top.

On Sunday morning (technically afternoon because we went to bed at 4am the night before) we went to a local coffee shop and I got a delicious bagel sandwich. So good.

On Sunday evening I knew I needed some veggies in my life, but didn't really want to think about it. I just cooked up some butternut squash, a turkey italian sausage, some seeds of change quinoa and brown rice mix, and added some goat cheese. It was pretty random but very delicious.

Workouts
I ended up not getting in a lot of workouts this week due to friends being in from out of town, late nights, breaking my face and getting terrible allergies. I managed to get one in on Monday that focused on kettlebell work and biking. Other than that, the greenbelt was my only other workout. Oops. I am looking forward to switching that up next week.

Plans for Next Week
I only have plans on Tuesday next week, for a friends birthday. The plans are determined as of yet, but I am keeping my schedule open. I want to focus on eating as healthy as possible, flying under the social radar as much as possible, getting a good sweat on most days.

Food Goals
Eat all of the healthy veggies in my fridge

Workout Goals
Workout 5 days, including strength and cardio for more than 20 minutes a day.
